Dr. Patricia Foxen (PhD 2002; MA 1994, Ā鶹Ēų; MPH 1990, Columbia University) is an Anthropologist and Scientific Associate at the Womenās Health Program, University Health Network in Toronto. She has a cross-appointment with the University of Toronto Anthropology Department. Her areas of interest include violence, post-war reconstruction and development; migration and forced displacement; cultural identity and psychosocial well-being; and questions surrounding health and gender in the Americas. Her current research interests focus on gendered idioms of distress and resilience in post-war settings. Dr. Foxen is the author of āIn Search of Providence: Transnational Mayan Identitiesā (Vanderbilt University Press 2007), an ethnographic account of the transnational passages of Kāicheā Indians straddled between the war-torn Guatemalan highlands and the inner-city of Providence, Rhode Island. She has taught Anthropology at Vanderbilt University, and worked as an anthropologist for the Transcultural Psychiatry Division of the Montreal Childrenās Hospital.
