Bhogendra Sharma, Chairman of the Center for Victims of Torture (CVICT) leads the Nepal team as Co-Principal Investigator of the TGH program. He has an extensive experience in working with victims of torture and refugees in Nepal.

Mark Jordans holds a degree in Developmental Psychology from Leiden University. He works as a technical advisor for HealthNet TPO and is a Ph.D. candidate at Vrije University, Amsterdam. His work has concentrated on the development of long-term training courses in psychosocial interventions and on the development, adaptation and implementation of comprehensive psychosocial health care systems from a trans-cultural perspective.

Brandon Kohrt is an MD-PhD candidate at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, in the department of anthropology under the supervision of Carol Worthman, PhD. His research interests include transcultural psychiatry, human rights, and community mental health policy and intervention. His current research focuses on the mental health impact of child soldier experiences in Nepal. In addition, he is conducting a longitudinal biocultural study of the mental health impact of political violence in Jumla, Nepal. Mr. Kohrt is currently a research technical advisor for TPO-Nepal.

Wietze A.Tol received a Masters degree in Clinical & Health Psychology from Leiden University. He is a Ph.D. candidate at the Vrije University Medical Center, doing research with HealthNet TPO. His clinical and research interests concern the design, implementation and evaluation of psychosocial projects for populations exposed to organized violence and other complex emergencies.

Suraj B. Thapa is a medical graduate from Tribhuvan University, Nepal and has received M.Phil. in International Health and PhD from University of Oslo. He has worked at the Center for Victims of Torture and Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO)in Nepal. He has clinical experience from different hospitals and general practice in Norway. He is currently working as a clinician at the Acute Psychiatric Department, Ullevål University Hospital, Oslo, Norway, and as a researcher at the Institute of Psychiatry, University of Oslo. He has research interests in transcultural psychiatry with focus on trauma, migration and psychiatric epidemiology.

  • was established in 1990, as a non-governmental, non-profit-making organisation working to rehabilitate victims of torture and trauma, and to advocate for the prevention of human rights violations and abuses. Currently the only centre of its kind in Nepal, CVICT provides professional medical, psychosocial and legal services to those in need.
  • is a knowledge-driven, non-profit organization based in Neatherlands that works in areas disrupted by war, disasters and poverty. Working together with local populations, they channel emergency aid into sustainable health care development. HealthNet TPO has been working in Nepal since 1996l, and collaborating with CIVICT to set up a programme for traumatized victims of torments, sexual assaults and violence.
