ʰǴ.Benjamin Fung has been appointed Associate Editor at the Elsevier Sustainable Cities and Society (SCS) for a 3-year term from December 2017. SCS is an international journal focusing on fundamental and applied research aimed at designing, understanding, and promoting environmentally sustainable and socially resilient cities.

Professors Jamshid Beheshti and Joan Bartlett have received a 2016 SSHRC Insight Development Grant on Towards a Model of Metaliteracy for Academic and Everyday-Life Information Seeking and Use
The goal of the proposed research is to investigate the metaliteracy knowledge and skills of millennials when seeking and using information not only for academia but also for their day-to-day lives. The metaliteracy construct encompasses the traditional scholarly information as well as alternative digital contents delivered through the Web, social media, wikis, blogs, etc.

SIS Faculty member received 2016 SSHRC Insight Development Grant
Dr. Catherine Guastavino, Associate Professor and William Dawson Scholar, has received a 2016 SSHRC Insight Development Grant in collaboration with Ville de Montreal and Dumoulin Acoustics. Prof. Benjamin Fung of the School of Information Studies receives the Service Award from the IEEE 2016 International Conference on Data Science and Advanced Analytics (DSAA’2016)
On October 18, 2016, as a Local Arrangement Chair, prof. Fungreceived the Service Award from the IEEE 2016 International Conference on Data Science and Advanced Analytics (DSAA’2016). The award comes with free registrations for the conference in the next three years.
Prof. Fung would like to congratulate his PhD students at SIS who served as volunteers atthe conference, he shares this honour with them.
SIS PhD student Fei Shu awarded FRQSC Doctoral Fellowship for research on bibliometric database comparison
Congratulations to 鶹 School of Information Studies PhD student Fei Shu on receiving a FRQSC Doctoral Fellowship.
Fei’s research investigates the difference between Web of Science and local Chinese bibliometric databases and contributes to understanding of whether international bibliometric databases can be used to evaluate national research performance.
