Eligibility & applying

’s website thoroughly lists all and regarding Quebec student aid. Keep in mind that in order to maximize your aid, it is important to determine if you qualify as a (i.e., without the contribution of parents, sponsor or spouse).

AFE will not assess a student file until it is considered complete.You can track all your required AFE documents by checking off the blue boxes on the paper application form, or by carefully reading the personalized list of required documents at the end of your online application. Our office can see to the legal certification of these documents, but you must provide your own photocopies. Commissioners for Oaths areavailable at the Scholarship and Student Aid Office and 鶹’s School of Continuing Studies.

Private Programs

Students registered full-time in private programs are not eligible for AFE bursaries but may be eligible for loans if they apply to AFE's .

Students registered part-time in private programs may be eligible for loans if they apply to AFE's .

Programs offered in modules are not eligible for AFE (neither full-time Loans and Bursaries nor part-time Loans).

Permanent Codes

Your permanent code is required information on your AFE application. Most students will find their permanent code on their鶹 transcript. If there is no permanent code on your transcript, please follow the guidelines provided below in the section "If you do not have a permanent code".

If you have your permanent code

You may apply online via AFE's under“Student” profile.It is important to read the information that appears at the end of the application form asyou will find a list of the documents required for your application to be assessed.

If you do not have a permanent code

You may want to wait for your permanent code to be available on your transcript. If you have never studied in Quebec, this process could take 2-4 months from your first day of studies at 鶹. You will otherwise have to complete the paperform .

Important Dates & Deadlines

The new AFE application for the upcoming academic year is made available every year in mid to late May. Apply as early as possible every summer to ensure your aid is assessed and ready by September 1st. No application for financial assistance is accepted after 30 days from the end of the last month of recognized studies in a given year.

Important: Every February, you will be asked byAFE to confirm the financial resources declared in your application. Your aid will be suspended if you do not do so.


Response times

You can find ’s to know when to expect an assessment of your file. Each missing document will increase the wait time. If you apply with the paper form, you must mail the application and your supporting documents directly to AFE using the mailing address indicated on the application. Our office cannot mail students' applications to AFE. We recommend using a registered mail service that allows you to track the delivery date.

If you have a permanent code, apply online and to your AFE file. This will ensure secure transmission of your personal information and will allow for a shorter processing time for your file.
