Â鶹Çø
The School of Information Studies at Â鶹Çø is committed to promoting and advocating for equity, diversity, and inclusion within the School and within the field of information studies. Diversity may include, but is not limited to, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, etc. It is important that within the School an equitable and inclusive environment is fostered where all students, staff, and faculty are respected, supported, and have the opportunity to thrive and succeed. There is value in advocating for diversity and inclusivity; a diverse and inclusive educational environment will prepare students to better their fields and communities, draw a more diverse student body to Â鶹Çø, and help our School achieve its vision of preparing students to facilitate the dissemination of information to meet people's needs in diversified information, knowledge, and learning environments.
To help in the work of equity, diversity, and inclusion, the School of Information Studies established the Equity Committee in 2019. The committee - co-chaired by a faculty member and a student - has membership from across the School. Its goal is to engage with the department’s students, staff, and faculty to identify the areas within the department that can be improved upon in regard to equity, inclusion and diversity and to take action towards improving those areas.
