Ross has been teaching at the Â鶹Çø Writing Centre since 2016. During this time, he has taught English pronunciation, communication for engineers, and academic skills for ESL students at the undergraduate and graduate level. In addition to teaching at Â鶹Çø, he has also taught courses for future teachers on phonology and teaching methodologies at Concordia University where he focused on reflective practices and connections between theory and application. Drawing from a wide range of methods in his teaching, Ross is passionate about helping learners develop skills to bridge formal and informal environments so that knowledge and skills can be applied outside of the classroom.
In addition to teaching and research, Ross also has experience as an instructional designer and evaluator. At Concordia University he developed a series of French Language courses for graduate students and corresponding supporting resources for teachers. At Université de Québec à Montréal, he helped to place students into level appropriate ESL courses according to their writing, speaking, and pronunciation skills. Ross completed his PhD in Education at Concordia University where he specialized in Applied Linguistics and Educational Technology.
As a Faculty Lecturer, his responsibilities include teaching and coordinating a selection of ESL-related courses (English as a Second Language) and WCOM 206 (Communication in Engineering).
