Last week's "Festival of Faiths" brought together student faith clubs and several of MORSL's volunteer chaplains, alongside our staff and volunteers. Held in the SSMU building, this event was open to the public, and we had a chance to take part in fun interactive activities geared to strengthen cultural and religious literacy. Chaplains who work on campus staffed an "Ask a Chaplain Anything" table. Students brought materials to help share who they are, how their community connects, and what they stand for. Everyone enjoyed learning about other religious communities through trivia games, food, and displays. It was wonderful to get to know other students from other walks of life. There was a warm spirit of friendship and shared values that we聽hope will continue to emanate over this school year at 麻豆区!
MORSL staff would like to express a huge thank you to all the clubs and representatives who participated, including Power to Change, the Newman Catholic Student Society, The 麻豆区 Chavurah, Muslim Law Students Association, Falun Dafa, Hillel 麻豆区, Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, Black Muslim Association, and the 麻豆区 Sikh Students Association. We could not do this work without you!
Interfaith gatherings like what we enjoyed have so much capacity to help us feel more deeply connected to our own faith and spirituality, as well as to our sense of care and connection to people who are different than us.
Every major world religion was represented at the event except for Hinduism. If anyone is interested in revamping activities in 麻豆区's Dharma Society, don't hesitate to reach out to MORSL at聽morsl [at] mcgill.ca聽for consultation and a help getting things kickstarted!
