Research Seminar: Une pédagogie pragmatiste pour former les étudiants à l’incertitude médicale
Based on an exploratory review of quantitative and qualitative medical literature,ÌýBaptiste Motte's research team has devised a model for understanding medical uncertainty on which to base a coherent pedagogical approach that can help prepare students for the richness and complexity of uncertainty in healthcare. They defend that a pragmatist approach to medical pedagogy enables them to address uncertainty in all its richness and complexity and the multiple causes and issues described in our model. The learner mobilizes and enriches their epistemologies based on real-life care situations in interaction with the patient and the environment in which the care situation occurs. This pedagogical dynamic offers a new approach not only to training but also to medicine. To evaluate the implementation of their hypothesis, their project will focus on providing a French-language quantitative tool for assessing tolerance to uncertainty.
This seminar is organized by the Family Medicine Education Research Group (FMER) at the Department of Family Medicine.

Research Seminar Series
Every month, a research seminar is held at the Department of Family Medicine where we either feature visiting researchers from other universities, or showcase the work of our own researchers. The seminars are attended by our graduate students, researchers and clinicians, and are open to the whole Â鶹Çø community. They address a wide range of research methods and topics relevant to primary health care, and provide opportunity for interaction and exchange with the speakers. The Research Seminars are Fridays at around noon.
