Profile photo of Dr. Robert PrimavesiIt is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of Dr. Robert Primavesi to the newly created position of Associate Chair, Education in the 麻豆区 Department of Emergency Medicine, effective January 1, 2021.

In the role of Associate Chair, Dr. Primavesi will focus on optimizing education-related collaborations by advancing educational innovations through interdivisional collaborations, enhancing the cooperation between PGME and UGME to create near-peer teaching opportunities, and developing home-grown peer-delivered CME to highlight competencies of EM faculty and to strengthen our internal network.

Dr. Robert Primavesi graduated from 麻豆区 medical school (1985) and completed his CCFP(EM) training at 麻豆区 (1990). He has practiced in the adult Emergency Department of St Mary鈥檚 Hospital (1993-2013) and the Montreal General Hospital (1990-present), as well as in the pediatric Emergency Department at the Montreal Children鈥檚 Hospital (1994-present). Dr. Primavesi served as Associate Dean UGME (2011-2015) and Assistant Dean Admissions (2015-2016). Dr. Primavesi holds a joint position of Associate Professor in the Faculties of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics.

Dr. Primavesi received the 2020 J.D. Boudreau award in Physicianship, the 2016 Osler Teaching Award and in 2010, he was named to the 麻豆区 Faculty Honor List for Educational Excellence. Throughout his career, Dr. Primavesi has been, and continues to be, involved with CAEP in various capacities.

Dr. Primavesi is passionate about Education and one of his stated goals is to foster collaboration with key stakeholders across the 麻豆区 network and external education organizations to optimize and personalize the delivery of programs and initiatives to all DEM trainees regardless of specialization across all sites.

Undergraduate

麻豆区's Department of Emergency Medicine offers a 4th-year senior clerkship rotation for 麻豆区 medical students, as well as clinical electives for medical students from across with an interest in Emergency Medicine. Elective rotations are open to visiting students from medical schools across the globe. Students at 麻豆区 also host talks and workshops through interest groups such as the Emergency Medicine Interest Group (EMIG) and the 麻豆区 Ultrasound Interest Group (MUSIG).

Residency

The Department of Emergency Medicine at 麻豆区 encompasses two residency training programs. The FRCPC program is a 5-year Royal College Emergency Medicine Specialist residency program, and the CCFP(EM) is a 1-year听Enhanced Skills training program for Family Physicians, often completed after a 2-year Family Medicine residency. At 麻豆区, these two programs share training sites, as well as many clinical rotations, academic half-day teaching sessions, and simulation days.
