RodentsÌýimported from non-commercial or non-approved sources to the Comparative Medicine & Animal Resources Centre (CMARC) of Â鶹Çø or one its affiliated animal facilities must be approved for import prior to shipment.ÌýÌý

Animals may require quarantine or rederivation upon arrival at the discretion of the veterinarian.

The total time required for approval, transport, quarantine or rederivation, health monitoring and release of the animals may vary from a couple ofÌýweeks to several months. Furthermore, note that the import process may be delayed as a result of factors outside the control of the CMARC, such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, delays at Canada Customs or delays on the side of the sending institution.

The principal investigator submitting the request is responsible for all charges associated to the transport, housing, procedures, and diagnostic tests of imported rodents.

Housing during the quarantine period is under Biocontainement level 2.

To avoid delays,Ìýplease make sure all the legal and Material Transfer Agreement requirements have been settled prior to submitting your request.

The rodent strain(s) requested must appear in the approved Animal Use Protocol prior to transport.
