Indigenous Advisory Board

CINE鈥檚 Indigenous Advisory Board members are asked to offer guidance and advice, based on their own knowledge, perspective, and community-based research experiences, about how CINE can achieve its mission, in a good way. Indigenous Advisory Board members have been recruited and asked to contribute not as organizational representatives, but as experienced, knowledgeable, and caring individuals, offering the knowledge and commitment required to help CINE achieve its mission.

Roles and contributions of CINE鈥檚 Indigenous Advisory Board members include:

  • offering knowledge, advice, and guidance that will help CINE researchers to achieve and uphold CINE鈥檚 mission in research and education.
  • providing strategic advice related to CINE initiatives, activities, collaboration, and membership
  • reviewing and either approving or recommending revision to CINE鈥檚 annual report and calendar of activities and initiatives
  • communicating, promoting, and connecting CINE researchers and initiatives to local, regional, national, and international initiatives, knowledge holders, and difference makers
  • helping CINE navigate academic, administrative, and institutional requirements and opportunities in a manner that upholds and elevates Indigenous knowledge, communities, values, and priorities.

Current CINE Advisors were appointed in spring 2023. CINE鈥檚 Indigenous Advisory Board meets 3-4 times per year with meetings attended by CINE鈥檚 Director, co-Director, and invited CINE faculty and students.
