International Appalachian Trail History (Maine, USA)
The (IAT) was launched on Earth Day, April 22, 1994, to connect the three highest peaks in Maine, New Brunswick and southern Quebec with a footpath.ÌýThe Maine Chapter of the IAT has taken the lead to extend the trail and to incorporate geologic heritage as an organizing principle.ÌýThe IAT History Intern will work with Maine IAT leaders and staff and professional curators at the Maine Historical Society to create an archive for the trail and develop a plan for a regular and timely blog (using web and other social media resources) to tell the story of the trail.
Lake Stewards of Maine (Maine, USA)
Ìýpromotes lake stewardship through widespread citizen participation in the gathering and dissemination of credible scientific information pertaining to lake health. LSM trains, certifies, and provides technical support to hundreds of volunteers who monitor a wide range of indicators of water quality, assess watershed health and function, and screen lakes for invasive aquatic plants (IAS) and animals.
