Â鶹Çø

Indigenous Studies

Overview

A minor in Indigenous studies at Â鶹Çø provides you with a broad interdisciplinary approach to central topics in the historical, social, and cultural dimensions of Indigenous life on Turtle Island (North America).

The core courses offered in the program focus on engaging with Indigenous knowledge systems and societies in ways that promote the resurgence of these systems. The program also places an emphasis on the field of Indigenous Studies’ distinct methodologies, expectations, and reciprocity in the program's Indigenous community partnerships.

The program has been an essential site of Indigenous community engagement and outreach. By organizing and sponsoring public events, community outreach projects and bringing visitors to Â鶹Çø through the annual Indigenous Knowledge Holder Series, the program serves as a keystone for Indigenous initiative and community building on campus.
